Calling fox during daylight?

I hunt fox at night, but due to the hunting pressure have been having very little luck. I was wondering about calling fox during the daylight? Give them something diffent, Have any of you called foxes during the day? having any sucess? I hunt the woods so i figured i'd try hunting in thick cover early and late in the day.

I have always had really good luck during that period after sunset but before it is just to dark to see through the scope anymore. A friend of mine tried it the other evening and killed two in no time at all. In articles on calling foxes, this period of time is referred to as the crepuscular hours. Foxes love it. The witching hour!

You might not be as fortunate due to the heavy hunting/calling pressure your area is recieving though. But if I was gonna try something different, that is the time I would try, "they wake hungry."

These three were all shot just a few minutes before darkness over the last ten days or so by either myself or Vapredatorhunter. It works, no lights needed that way.

Thanks, I was thinking of trying some hand calls instead of the electronic. Every body and their brother uses rabbit distress or grey fox pup tape.

If you're going for greys, try a grey fox fight sound. That has been my bread and butter this year.

Good eye there Ronnie, yes it is a Remington 700 LVSF. It belongs to a friend of mine(Vapredatorhunter) It is a .17 Remington. He loves his, I have a Remington Model Seven that I converted from a .223 to a .17 Remington with the addition of a Shillen Custom Barrel. These are two awesome little rifles. I use a 22 Hornet alot as well in the Browning Micro Hunter. You don't get a lot of run off's with either of these guns.

Warbird, that switch back to mouth calls might just be the ticket as well. I really like my FoxPro, but it is always a special accomplishment to do it yourself.
