Anyone tried using a game call like Fox-Pro to get them to stick there heads up and look around more?? Didn't know if a eagle or some other sound would get them out?
Maybe try playing "I'm Alright" by Kenny Loggins. That should get them up and dancing.
In seriousness I've heard guys try to whistle at the ones we have here to get them to stand up sometimes, not sure how well it works and I've never bothered.
If you are refering to richardsons ground squirrels it is (kinda) posible to call them. I have a little gopher whistle that omits a real sharp *squeee!* and often it will cause the laying low gophers to stand up tall for a shot.
Same thing for 'chucks. I use a squeaker type call that has a rubber bellows that you slap down on. Gets 'chucks up for a look pretty often. If I know the 'chuck is there, it works most of the time, put it that way.
