Calling in the Snow?

Do you all have any tip & tricks for calling in the snow? Calls you prefer to use and set-up techniques? Fox, Bobcat and Coyotes. Fox and Bobcats more prevelant where I am.
We've got about 1" on the ground and I may give it a try this PM, and more snow is on the way tonight and for Sat. as well. I've just gotten into calling this fall & winter and have never tried it in the snow. Thanks, Sam

Sam, I was out this morning, just to check travel route for prints. There has been no movement since the snow fell as far as "prey" animals. Places that are full of rabbits have no prints yet at all. They are holding tight right now and have been all night. With another frontal system coming, Hopefully this evening/afternoon will be the key time.

Remember close to their cover. In it if you can find a shooting lane. Afghanistan would be a good choice, close to the "edges" of two or more covers, where it is heavy.

With only an inch like you described it's no big deal. Wear snow camo or an old sheet, something white and you can absloutely vanish in the cover. You can really see well and the snow makes seeing an approaching predator a whole bunch easier to see. The neatest thing is the ability to see tracks. Study their sign and learn from it. See where they move, travel, hunt, cut a circle downwind of your stands after you've called to see if one "backdoored" you. Deep snows may require some different thinking, but only a little is the best combination of all IMHO.

As mentioned, an 1" isn't nothing.

As the snow piles up, Canines love to travel 4x4 tire tracks, snow machine tracks and ATV tracks.

In my area of Pa. I can use either wehicle to make trails for Canines to use to run down my gun barrel.
My method for breaking trails is pratical in many areas of the U.S. with the right machine in the right locations.

Most predator related problems have a solution.
Hope this helps and keep an open mind.
Hern
