With the available calls on the Echo what kind of scenarios would you set up to call in coyotes? And why? I am a newby and am looking to get some starting points... thanks!

i would go with rabbit distrees calls for areas not hunted. coyote vocals work better in areas that are hunted more offten, because most hunters use rabbit distress calls and educate the coyotes. mouse and bird distress calls work good for bobcats and coyotes. the owls calls and crow calls work good for crow hunting. some of the other "odd balls" may also work, I have a friend who calls in coyotes with an antelope distress call in s.e. kansas, the closest antelope is a good 500 miles away. any distress call that they havent heard, espically from other hunters, is going to pick there intrest.

I'd start off with about 5 minutes of Corn Feeder going off. Then switch to Acorn Crunching for another 5. Just kidding

rlu gave good advice. If you know other's are calling the area's you plan to hunt, go with the Coyote Female Howl, that's a fairly non-aggressive howl that might let you know they're in the area.

Use rabbit, either cottontail or jack. Can't hardly go wrong with rabbits. No need to be changing to a bunch of different sounds. Stay with what ya started with. Play it as loud as it will go. Let it play constant. Hold still. Hold still. Hold still. Stay 20 minutes. Move to another location and do it again.

Keep it simple to start with. After you get some experiance you can mess around with changing sounds, volumes and some of the other crap some seem to favor while on a stand.

Main thing is ya gotta get out there and put the caller to use and get the real world experiances of it all.
