Camo for plains and sage

I am about to buy some new camo. I mostly hunt the plains of eastern Colorado. It seems to me that most of the "open country" style camo still has too much green in it for where I hunt. I am looking for recommendations on what type of camo to get. So far I think MO Brush is in the lead, but may still be a little too green.

Here is what I am talking about. It seems that the patterns that were designed for this environment still suffer from the "blob" factor. This pic is of a friend of mine and I think this is Prairie Ghost.

I have been using my waterfowl gear to this point, as the reed oriented camo seems to get along without all of the green. It is a bit too yellow though and still "blobs" a tad.

This is MO Shadow Grass.

I think the MO brush will work well for you. It is what I use here in the plains of SD. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

This works pretty well, especially if you can get in the shadows; has some green but much less than some other patterns.

You might have to get pretty low to find a shadow in that terrain, though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've always been a big fan of faded out Carhart pants and Mossy Oak Brush long sleeved Tshirt. It's worked best for me in terrain like that.

I've been using M2D Camo lately and am very pleased with it. Looking forward to really putting it to the test more this season.

Natgear, Natgear, Natgear! The King's camo that I have seen on videos looks pretty good also, but natgear is the best I have found for out west.

King has two new shadow camos. They have plains shadow I think that would work good, I love their Desert Shadow.

Had not heard of this stuff until now. Pretty impressive capabilities according to their site. The photos look good.
BTW, did you eat that snake?

Thanks to everyone for the recommendations!

We've been filming with this camo and it's quite impressive on well it blends in. I've always been a fan of vertical 'grass type' patterns, as it works better for me on the type of areas I call. I've recycled quite a few duck hunting coats into predator calling coats over the years. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Didn't eat the snake, as it was 90+ degrees and day 5 of a 2 week hotel to hotel trip. I did skin it out though.

hunt the same country you do in the same state MO brush all i use unless we get moisture then i use just about anyhthing that has lots of green in it have not seen a green grass camo that will fit the area, but then we dont get a lot of moisture that changes the grass that much out east

I looked around for a long time for camo that blended well with sage brush of all types and decided on CONKS CAMO(conkscamo.com) in 'truesage' coloration. They also have a 'faded sage' for those times when the sage brush has gone dormant. The very first time I wore that stuff? I walked into and through a herd of 'feral'(no such thing as wild) horses, made my setup, started calling. The horses didn't care until my first interrogation howl; which was immediately answered by the alpha 'yote just on the other side of the herd with a challange howl. Then the alha female lit up, then the pups. It looked like I might have been dead meat there for a minute because the horses were practically running over me, the alpha male was on a mission and I was laughing so hard I couldn't shoot if I had wanted to. My point is: This camo is very good!!!!

Whew, I just got home from a very frustrating visit to Sportsman's Warehouse. Found some Nat Gear and some MO Brush, but not much and no garment styles that I liked (other than the overpriced Browning stuff). I guess I'll just be ordering what I need. I am leaning toward the M2D. Haven't been able to look at Conk's yet cuz their site isn't working right now.

I think the only drawback with M2D is their limited selection of headgear and they don't have any gloves at all. Oh well, I'll piece something together.

Thanks again to everyone for their recommendations.

Another vote for Prairie Ghost and Natgear. I'm in Natgear here. When it gets colder, I put my PG jacket over this.

If you're in eastern CO, I'm just south of you.

Well that Nat gear does look pretty good. Thanks.

It also works very well with a black top under the coveralls. That gives me a real "shadow" look where my top is black and the bottoms are camo. I look like the base of a tree that way.
