im looking at camoflaging my rifle. i have a savage 22-250 model 12 with a heavy floating barrel/stock. was wondering if i wrap the gun will the wrap affect it at all? a piece of paper is about all you can slide between them. i dont figure the wrap would pull them together and affect accuracy but i thought id ask the pros before i tried it out.

thanks!

I've heard some people say it will, but it didn't affect my AR any. I'd just wrap the barrel and then transition to the stock, not pull the action out. That way it will still be free floating and not have the camo form affecting how its sitting in there or putting pressure on it. Don't wrap it excessively tight and it shouldn't change anything. Just wrap it and then shoot it to make sure it didn't change.

Yeah, it can and more than likely will affect it. How much is something you won't know until you shoot it at a target after wrapping.

Edit to add, wrapping an AR is a totally different deal than wrapping a barrel sitting in a conventional wooden or composite stock.

I wrap my free floater when hunting .. It may affect me at the range but it's not enough to keep me from downing dogs.

I use a fabric wrap that's just like vet wrap, very flexible and gives a good grip. I can't see it having any effect on accuracy, I sighted in with it on and have no trouble gettting nice groups at two hundred yards.I've got my Tikka wrapped in snow camo right now, I use Realtree or whatever I can find the rest of the year.
