Can deer see orange? If not is the blaze orange camo good?

I've done well with the blaze camo, but then again I've done well with plain old hunter's orange. I wouldn't rush out to buy anything new in the camo if you've already got something suitable in orange. If you're in the market for something new and it's available in the blaze camo I'd get it. Might not help, but you know it won't hurt.

I really can't answer your question for sure, but I believe that deer see more of the UV spectrum than humans do. They might not actually see color, but might see a shade or a "glow" of a different kind. I believe that camo orange would definitely be a "better" choice than a solid orange. The camo would have to help break out the large, solid color "blob" the deer sees. Anything to break up your outline would be good.

As an aside, I bought a Browning orange ballcap with a flo. yellow brim on it. I never killed a thing with that hat on, and got busted ALL THE TIME. I switched back to orange, or camo/orange and don't have that happen near as often. Therefore, in my opinion, that flo. yellow must "glow" more than the orange.

Agreed! I hunted shotgun season one year with a stocking cap in that bright yellow and was getting busted big time. It actually cost me a really big buck in fact.

As for the camo orange, make sure it is legal in yours state. Here in Iowa it is not.

Yeah buy the blaze orange if you have the options. It will not stand out as much as it is broken up. Like was already said they are pretty much color blind and see the solid image and outline.

Blaze orange with the camo pattern to break up the solid blob effect. Better safe than sorry. I had a friend killed in New York during the shotgun season a number of years ago.

Use the solid orange. Many states the camo is not legal. They really do not see orange. Like other mentioned it is more of shade of grey. I do know many studies suggest that blue is about the only specific color they can see.

I always doubted this, but movment just like with yotes is the key. Use background cover, etc. Stay in the shadows...

I always doubted this, until I really started paying attention. In CO you have to wear orange for muzzle loading I ahve seen elk walk right past a person with solid orange hat and vest at 20 yards. Last year my cousin had on solid orange vest and hat. Shot his cow at 8 yards. She never saw us despite looking in our direction for several yards as she came in.

Stay safe.

I think movement is the key. However the camo blaze orange will break you up.

I've bow hunted elk in blue jeans and a cowboy hat and got really close as long as they didn't catch me movin.

for the sport wash
That's what the bow hunters do.
From what I have heard, deer see the outline of the human as much as anything. Then the UV rays.
Someone explained it as the manufacturers and soap makers want the clothes to be bright and add crap to do so.
The sport wash gets rid of this,so you don't glow out in the woods to the color blind animals

I'm going with the camo orange.Just breaks up your outline so you don't look so much like a human.

I don't think deer care either way the orange is there more for your protection from the yahoos that shoot at whatever moves.
