I went the route of a small 4 inch speaker for awhile and blew it out one day when the volume control somehow got turned to max. Oh well. Went back to the power horn. I agree that the speakers sound better than the horn by a bunch.
As to the Convert a Caller - I modified mine a bit. I cut the 30 foot cord off to make it about 3 feet long, and then cut out the back of the case and rivited the horn to the case. Now all I do is set it down, turn it on and go get ready.
To give myself some back up incase the remote ever goes, I got a 20 foot head phone extention cable from Radio shack for about 8 bucks. I can plug that into the amp and MP 3 player if I llose the remote capabilities. Beter to have a 20 foot cord than a busted day in the field.
