In Kansas the regs. don't allow the use of a 410 for turkeys. I want to take my 7 yr old daughter hunting but must use a 20 ga. (Would rather start her with a 410) Can you use 410 in your state?

Errick,
You made me go back and double check Arkansas regulations. Ours reads "shotguns 10 gauge and smaller" and "shot bigger than no. 2 is prohibited."

Taking my son this weekend and I did not get him the 20 gauge yet so the .410 and close, careful shots it will have to be.

In Pa, yes. I've never been aware of anyone using one however. Most guys I know start their little ones out with 20ga's.

...In Missouri, we can use a .410 for turkeys.

In '07, my 8-year old granddaughter killed a 20 1/2 lb. gobbler with a 11 1/4" beard, at 22 steps with a Contender .410 (21" barrel). It belongs to a friend, and I have it borrowed again this year to take my other 8 year old granddaughter on the youth hunt. The older sister that scored in '07, is now almost 13, and too cool to go turkey hunting.(LOL)

Anyhow, within its confines, the .410 will kill a turkey. A range of approx. 20 yards, no brush, etc., is what I consider the limits of this shotgun.
