Canada Bear Hunt

I just got back from Ontario Canada, at the Meta Lake Lodge (near Nakina), and went on a pretty good bear hunt. The hunting was pretty hard, based on the full moon I think.

We were sitting on stand for about 8 hours a day. This guy came in on the 4th day, just before dark. He weighed 334 lbs. Pretty good bear for the area I'm told.

I recommend this lodge as the fishing was outstanding. Good facilities and nice boats made it real enjoyable. The bear stands were well built and not rickity.

I shot him with a TC Encore with a 20" 500 S&W barrel. A little overkill, but it did the job sufficiently. The stands were all within about 30 yards of the bait. Not a problem for a bowhunter at all. I didn't want to mess with it though, as I wasn't sure what the distances would be when I first signed on. If I do it again, I'll definitly use a bow..
