Can’t Decide — Should I Get This Bobcat Mounted?

The X24 pulled the small cat in on Cagey Cottontail, then a couple stands later I hit Pup Screams… and this big, spotted tom came slinking in. They made it through Valentine’s Day—just to have their hearts broken.

This was a heavy cat with some of the nicest spots I’ve shot in a long time. I haven’t taken a cat to a taxidermist in probably 15 years — I’m still deciding, but I’m seriously considering having this one mounted. Prices have gotten insane lately, though. If I do it, I want someone who does cat mounts right — does anyone know of a great cat taxidermist in NW Oklahoma?

the answer is YES...thats an awesome cat. here is a list of names to check according to the internet, check with the Oklahoma taxidermy association

you want a taxidermist that does cats and gets the face right. the body can be great but if they dont get the face right, its ruined. just because a taxidermist is a champion with deer doesnt mean they can mount a cat.

AI Overview

Based on recent competition results and industry reputation in Oklahoma, here are top taxidermists noted for high-quality bobcat mounts and championship awards:
  • Ashley Eve (Newcastle, OK): Identified as a North American and National Champion taxidermist who specializes in wildlife, including high-end bobcat mounts.
  • Bauman's Taxidermy Studio (Central/Southern OK): Owned by Kenneth Bauman, a recognized World, National, and State Champion taxidermist.
  • Bourke's Taxidermy (Oklahoma): Known for winning multiple awards at state and national shows, including top honors for various wildlife mounts.
  • Courtney / Tri-State Taxidermy (Regionally based): Won a state champion award in Oklahoma with a bobcat, specializing in high-detail,, award-winning cat mounts.

That is a very nice looking bobcat, Jeremy. Totally worth mounting, but I’m not one to spend another man’s money for them! Lol. That choice is yours to make.

I couldn’t agree more with @bohunr about getting the face right. It’s always the eyes on cat mounts in my opinion. If they aren’t set perfectly the end up looking goofy. I think he narrowed it down nicely.

Good luck in your decision. Great job as always!

Those are some really nice spots. I don't think I'd ever pay to have one mounted, but if was going to, that one would be a prime candidate.

Infidel, im sure you have killed enough of them over the years to possibly judge the size of this one from my cell camera but to me it looks pretty big, whats your opinion?... we don't have a hunting season for them unfortunatelyView attachment 26897

I’ve looked at a lot of work done locally. Ashley Eve is one I really like, but she’s not taking anything in right now. I’d really prefer not to ship it — I had a guy shoot one here before, and when I tried shipping it to him, it ended up getting ruined in the mail.

Very nice looking cat, we've had good luck with Terry's Taxidermy.

They have different people doing mounts there. The pics they have posted of cats look ok, but not great. maybe its just the picture angle, but if i am going to get it done i really dont mind paying to have it look really good. Alot of little taxidermist around but i dont want to risk getting something im not happy with
