I am looking to plan a caribou trip for my wife and I in the next couple years. But I don't know where to start. So if you guys have someone you have used in the past that you would use again could you share please? Alaska would be first choice but canada would do also. Thanks

Never hunted them, but there are different sub species of caribou.Seems like Alaska is kinda tough.Ontario may be what you want,as your wife is going.Flatter ground and more open terrain.I think the antlers get bigger there too.Not sure on that though.

Are you looking for a lodge type hunt or a more remote tent camp? I would not look anywhere in Canada with what has been going on there the past two years. Look at all the guys that have lost all thier money because the outfitter shut down a week before any hunters showed up. You have NO recourse dealing with the native corporations or businesses up there. Keep your money in the USA!

Although I like the "keep your $ in the US" things, as far as sheer numbers and huntability its hard to beat Canada. As far as losing your money, there are numerousoutfitters that have been around for decades serving clients honestly and putting lots of animals in from of you. Do your research and choose wisely, go with reputation and facts, not cheapest price.

World Outfitters, Safari Nordic, Luco, Tuttulik. These are four of the larger outfitters in Canada that have either shut down or ripped off hundreds of thousands of dollars from American hunters over the past few years. Do some research and you'll see that there are hundreds of very unhappy US hunters without any recourse to get their money back. The only other large outfit would be Jack Hume and I hear good things about him. But we also heard good things about these other canadian outfits that have taken all this money from us US hunters. No reason at all to book a trip to Canada when one of the largest and fastest growing Caribou herds is the Western Arctic Caribou herd in Alaska.
