I got an m-4 with a carry handle scope have any of you had problems with keeping them solid in other words do they move aroung on you even when their tight meaning the screw that goes throu the carry handle being screwed in tight and still have movement ????

I have 4 different ones for my a2 the lupy one i currently have on it.

fits tight,,i line it up with my thumbbs on the top of the base and my fingers under the handle and press it in.

The screw finishes drawing it in tight..........X

im just not real fond of the a2. great for defense and plinking.
i have owned many ar's and the downside of the a2 is the resale value/and the need for a high cheek-weld if using a scope. for me it was just uncomfortable for hunting. im not knocking the a2, just not my cupoftea for a hunting rig.

I have never put a scope on the A2 but i do mount red dots, holosights on it,,,that way i can shoot quickly with both eyes open.

I currently have a sight mark muti recticle on it.

If i would ever scope it,,i would get a cheek riser on a A2 stock..................X

I don't trust them. You only have one mounting point for the scope as compared to two or three with a flat top. If I were depending on a life with the set up, I would go with a flat top and a proper mounting set up.

To each is own. Flat tops can be purchased for under 100 bucks and your A2 can be sold for 50-75 so you can re-coup most of the cost.

Yep...Flat top all the way...

Another thing to keep in mind, is that with a A2 mount, you are really setting that optic up higher than it needs to be. Depending on the recoil it can really put a hurtin on your neck.

I have bedded them before and couldn't get them to hold zero for more than
a day at the range. Upper receivers are cheap, have yours switched over and
you'll be happier in the long run.

I do not have problems with the scope movement as long as I keep it secured with pliers. Shoots 1/2 or better groups with 69 grain smk's with varget powder. With the handle if the scope is shot or whatever happens when shtf you can always use the sights under the scope mount. I wouldn't change what I got was the rra nm. Shoots 3 inch groups with the nm sights.

I am finding out the "hard way" that what most are saying about the carry handle mounts is true. Not saying its not possible to get one set up and working correctly but so far my tinkering has ended in frustration.I only bought a real cheap scope too so thats part of the problem but then all I was after is something to make the rifle a little more useable and something that could be pitched off, if it quit working / got in the way.
A mild strength thread locker did help.

they do make a mount that allows you to "co-witness" both the rear peep and the red dot, or whatever. Ive done several setups like that. They are fast and accurate. as far as not holding zero? Havent had those problems.

One in particular I used a long eye relief pistol scope and the co-witness mount. stupid accurate.

Here's what Im talkin about if your curious. BTW keeps scope down closer to the reciever as well.

I have used both a accushot 6x scope and a ncstar mount with a 3-9 scope and both have held zero . I do prefer a scope with the mount built in though , it keeps the scope low enough that you don't need a cheek piece

Old guy here...I started with Colt AR15A2 HBAR..as I got older and my eyes starting getting older with the rest of my bones I could no longer shoot the carry handle mounted scope set up well. Bought a RR Varmint EOP for PDs and that killed my Colt days..gave it tio my son. He has YOUNG eyes, muskels and so forth so good to go.

Like an earlier poster I had to use pliers, well LockGrips, to tighten the base so it stay..I did not like that,,seemed like a "Get a BIGGER hammer" solution to me.

I did swap out a CAR15 upper for a EOP..was failry cheap, caught on sale - $70-$80..probably DPMS. I'm completely out of the carry handle business.
