Case Skinning???

I skinned a dog a while back, and it took forever, then I messed up the ears.
I'm still a bit new to this, and havent been able to go out as much as I would like.
If anybody is willing: what is case skinning?, do you really peel them (hide) off?, does/can it cut down on your fleshing time?

Thank in advance,
AL

I don't know about all the smoke going on about saving fleshing time, Al. But case skinning is nothing more then then pulling the hide down off the animal, from its hind end to the tip of it's nose, verses say... splitting it up the belly and rolling the carcass out of it's hide.
Case, or "tube", skinning a hide you only have two cuts. One from each rear paw, or ankle, to the anus. From there on, (with the animal hung by the hind legs)its all straight down to the nose.

Al,

I case skin all of my coyotes as soon as I shoot them. Works much better that way. I carry a piece of parachute cord to loop around each back leg and around a fence post and get after it. Can skin a coyote in about 5 minutes. Takes lots of practice to get that fast but it can be done.

Al,

If you wanna see what case skinning about, order Roy Finleys "Two Minute Coyote" video.

I didn't have anyone to show me how to case skin a coyote either, but I can do one in about 5 minutes now. Less if I dont mind a few nicks to the fingers.

to order it go to the Finley Furs website (I think there is one) and get Roys phone number. It'll set you back about $36.00, but it's money well spent.
