anyone no anything about them, took a ride up to Gander Mtn just to snoop around, and it was 50% off its a little hand held one with jackrabbit, cottontail, howls, pup whines, and fawn distress, i figured for 10 bucks why not, dont sound to bad either, i know its prolly not the best i would love to get a fox pro but dont have the money so we gotta start somewhere

My dad got one a few years ago. I thought "that was a waste of money." I'll be darned if he didn't call in about a dozen coyotes and a bobcat in with it. He hooked it up to a speaker (another $10-$15) and did very well with it!!

Shows what I know.........

He later bought a Johnny Stewart, about the same results with it.

I think you got a real good chance at callin 'em in with your $10 caller! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Like camo deerslayer said his dad did above, add the speaker to it when you can and that will give you more volume and allow you to move the sound out away from you.

My only yote to date came from the Cass Creek Nomad playing the dying bunny blues and a rigor rabbit without the motor canister(forgot and left it in the truck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif). I bought a FX3 and a Jack in the box since, but I haven't had a chance to kill with them either. The Cass Creek also accounted for several foxes and many call-ins without shots. You gotta go with what you can afford, or go in debt like the rest of us helpless souls /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif.

I recieved one of those for Christmas and I hope to try it out in a few days. Its a gift and Im going to enjoy being out there trying it out so its actually two gifts in one.

yeah i seen where you can hook a speaker up too it, did he buy his own kind of speaker for it and rig it up or did he buy the one made for it, cause i seen the one for it you can buy on the internet, but im trying to think if theres some way i could rig a homeade speaker up to it

I have the Cass Creek Nomad with remote,It works great .I use hand calls and I didnt want to spend big bucks on a E call.It fit the bill at least for me.It works in sub o weather and Ive only had it about 60 yrds from me and they say it will work out to 100 yrds. The only draw back is the small buttons on the remote.I made a wooden peg and attatched it to my lanyard.

You get what you pay for. I use the CC on a woodpecker sound and it has given me fur often. We have what we call bat eared foxes here in South Africa, these critters are NOT stock farming stock killers and are not shot, its not unknown that 7-8 in a group come into a call, the most I called together was 17, I have it on video, they are social animals, but as I say we dont shoot them.

And when I use the Cass creek these critters often come in, its really neat watching them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

I think my dad got the speaker at Radio Shack or somewhere like that. Before he got the speaker, he called in 2 or 3 yotes. I suspect you just have to be closer to them when you start.

I remember him telling me he liked to use it in heavy cover.

Sorry I can't remember where he bought the speaker. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have one of the old style Cass Creeks without the remote. I usually use it jacked into an amplifier that runs a six inch bull horn speaker. The speaker has fifty feet of wire to get it out away from me at least a little.
It was originally part of a system that I bought that uses a cassette recorder for the sound source. Now I use the Cass Creek. It would also accept a cd player or even an MP3 player.

Occasionally I will jack the cassette in tandem with the CC and put out two sounds at once. Like a crow calling and a coyote barking, or a coyote barking and a rabbit squealing, or a pack howl with a crow fight. Mix it up and see what I can stir up.

It is amazing how much noise you can get out of one speaker at the same time.

Though it definitely does sound better and clearer if you are only playing one sound at a time.

The whole rig fits in a small bag or hangs on my belt fairly comfortably. I can even use it while it is on my belt if I see a dog I want to call but can't move around enough to set the speaker out. I just reach over and turn on the amp, then push play on whatever sound I want to use.
Very effective and only cost me about $75 total with all the tapes I have for the cassette in fourteen years.

I have the small hand held call and the external speaker made for it. It sounds pretty good for a small, cheap, caller.
My hunting buddy has the CC remote caller. It has the same calls on it as mine, but I was really impressed with how loud and clear it will play. For $59.99, I might have to get me one too.
