I love the breed. I raised them for years. I used mine for cattle mostly. They tend to be on the hard headed side. This is a good trait on a dog used to bay waspy cattle in the brush. They do have great noses, and will also sight hunt. I owned a male dog who went with me everywere. He would workcattle in the morning and could be used to track wounded game in the evening. I even had a redbone female cross with my catahoula's. I did not want the pups, but my inlaws in Fla. wanted them. I sent them the pups at weaning, and a year later they were begging me to cross the two again. They told me that they made some of the best hog dogs they had ever had. Anyway, I like the breed, but a dog is a product of his parents and his handler. If the parents displayed desireable traits than most likely the off spring will. Also if the handler spends alot of time and patience he'll have a companion for life.
