Catch pans under reloaders / presses ??

I'm probably neat to a fault. From the truck, cars, and other things. I want stuff clean and organized. Since we are moving in a few weeks, when I remount my things to the benches I am considering putting shallow baking pans underneath the shotshell presses as well as the metallic presses to catch any stray powder and spent primers that always seem to find their way onto the table top. Then I can vacuum it up with a small shop vac. Do any of you do this, and am I overlooking a potential problem by doing this?

I got a grooved edge cutting board and put it under my MEC loader. I then drilled a hole in the trough through it and the bench and mounted a small jar under the hole. I just brush off shot and powder into the hole down chute. Later I just pour the bottle out and separate the two returning them to their respective containers.

On my metallics I just fire up my one gallon wet vac that I use on my Dillon trimmer.

Just lay a heavy shag carpet down on the floor under the bench. You won't have to worry about spilled stuff for about six months.

I like this guy!!!

I set something like that up for my fathers bench.

He ties flies, shotgun reloads for 12,20,28,and 16g. As well as some Rifle

I built the table top with one piece of MDF, and then two pieces of a hard wood plywood, all 3/4" thick. Glued and screwed together. The top piece was notched out 14"X 19"long. I then Glued and screwed 1" thick Oak cut at a 30 degree angle to the edges of the cut out on the table top.

The idea is that when it's done, The edges look like Dove tails. I then drilled 4 holes in the table top in the area that has a notch, for T bolts.
I then cut a 12"x 18"Long pieces of plywood for each thing he is going to mount (plus 2 extra) while I was at it, and cut these at the same 30 degree angle as before and then cut in 3/4 wide dado's for the t track on the bottoms. I then mounted another piece of plywood on top of these and then mounted the presses and fly tying vise to these. for the reloaders I put a little but of moulding around the edges that stand a little proud to catch anything that might roll away.

Now he keeps each of these on a shelf with a pillow case over them, and then when he wants to use one, he just loosens the hand bolts on the bottom of the table top, slides out the last one and slides in the new one and tightens it down. I think the dove tails and t-bolts and t track gives it plenty of strength.
When he is done, he can take it out and put in a blank insert that i made for him, and the table is flat and smooth for anything else he is doing.
The only modification that i did have to do after the fact is to drill a 2" hole in the one plate he uses for 12G and a matching hole in the cut out area with a little PVC attached to guide the 12G shells to a 5 gallon bucket. It's a progressive Mech and as the done shells are spit out, they drop into the bucket. I also put the bucket on wheels so he can drag it over to a couch to watch tv while he is filling boxes for the range with the 12 g shells.

I plan on doing this same set up for me when i get my own place. (renting now)
He likes it, but almost never uses it since his new hobby is RC planes. and the bench is covered with planes, and the stuff that comes with that.

Yeah ... me too currently. That's the problem. You see, the wife granted me sole use of the upper floor extra room that is over our garage. But in order to "keep the peace" I'm trying to stay as neat and presentable as possible. While it doesn't have shag, it is carpeted. Put 4 shotgun reloaders and 3 rifle presses in there and you can imagine the mess that would accumulate over a period of time.

Wives are not supposed to be allowed in the reloading room....instead of a catch pan, what you need is a "no girls allowed" sign for the door!
