Centerpoint scopes

Hi guys.

Anyone out there know anything about Centerpoint rifle scopes? I was trying one on a friends .243 the other day and was pretty impressed with it. His was a 4-16X with lighted reticle and he says the price was around $150. I was surprised how much I liked it. Are they pacific basin made or what?

I have the same scope, it works well enough, holds zero and all that stuff. The lighted reticle leaves a little to be desired, but you can always turn it off. The adjustable, locking turrets seem to be pretty functional. That price seems a little high, I bought mine for about 70 bucks at Wally World. I'm sure they're made in China or somewhere close to there. It won't replace my Leupolds or B&L but sometimes I need a scope and don't have the $$ so it fills that need pretty good.

Ive got a centerpoint 4-16x40 i got from wal mart mounted on my .270 and it holds zero about as well as i can shoot. ive looked through more expensive scopes and they are clearer and sometimes you get a little fog at 16x magnification but i have yet to have a problem shooting deer or coyotes. i have the same scope mounted on a marlin 60 .22lr and its no different. the scope is fairly heavy so standing and shooting it on the .270 is not as easy as i'd like but other than that i have no complaints. if im lucky enough to fall a$$ backwards into more money i would replace it with a better scope but like i said, i have no heartburn about it.

I put the 4-16x40 on my 7-08 as I needed a scope fast for the time being.
Paid about $70 from wallymart also.
Have no problems to date & on it for 6 mos now. I like the locking turrents also. I have only used the illum on it 2x at dusk, works good IMO.
Yes its Chinese made.

For 150 I'd definitely have a redfield. Ive got a couple that were temp fixes and they work ok, but that's as good as id call it. The redfields, they're pretty darn good.

For a deer scope that you spend 2 minutes looking through all it has to do is hold zero. After that cheap glass is just eye fatigue and headaches.

rustydust, go to a walmart or walmart.com. you can get them there for $70.00 or you can look on ebay. I bought a new one still in the package off Ebay for $40.00 and I currently have one on my 270 as well as one on one of my 30-06's. there have been no issues with mine and they are a very nice scope for the money.

Thanks for the help guys, but my original post was made over 4 years ago. I'm not in the market for any of those bargain scopes any longer.

I got one on a 22 I recently purchased. It works. Nothing to write home about I guess. It will be replaced eventually though.

Rusty you have to cut the new guy some slack for digging up such a old thread. I mean he is putting on a funny show in the caliber accuracy thread.

I have one in the 3x9 variety. I had it on my 10/22 and it is now sitting on a cheap muzzle loader. Eye releif is crappy, terrible in low light. For $50.00 you get what you get.

I also have a Centerpoint that I tossed onto my AR. It was about 70 bucks at Wally and came with an additional spotting scope and tripod for FREE! It seems to hold zero fine, and I have had no problems yet, though it magnifies more than I need it to and makes my rifle top-heavy. In any case, it works, but the worst thing is that the sucker is so long that it makes me need a Gunfighter bolt release because I cannot really use the stock one (the bell is in the way!) easily. Other than that minor issue, the scope is just fine.

Now, if I were to put a shorter optic on there that had similar magnification capabilities... THAT would be nice...
