CFE 223 and the 308

Anyone use it? I tried it yesterday with 168SMK's and the results were not good. I admit, I was on the high end of the load data and pushing the 168's pretty hard. I wonder if that was the issue? Its a new to me rifle but the bore seems to be fine so at this point, I'm blaming accuracy issues on a bad load. I usually use 4064 or Varget with the 168SMK's in a 308 and usually get good accuracy. I just have a lot of CFE and saw in the books it would work. I was just curious if any of you use CFE 223 in your 308's with any success.

Just an FYI, there was no load work up, I just went with a hot load and only loaded 10 rounds mainly to get the scope on paper and make sure the rifle functioned correctly but was hoping the accuracy would have been a little better.

Not in a 308, but it works superbly in my T-C Icon, in 243.

The accuracy, with a 70gr B-Tip, is excellent, and with a max load!

Once you work up a load, I think you will find what you are looking for.

Not in a 308 either, but it works fantastic in my 22 DTI and 6 Hagar.

Just built a 22x47 Lapua that I figured would work great in as well, based on top book velocities achieved in the 22-250 with it. Found 6 more pounds locally, so I scooped them up so as not to burn up my stash used for the other two.

And of course it didn't pan out......

It worked really good in my 22-250 as well. No Bueno in the 308 or at least not the first time I tried it. I was shooting 168 grain bullets. Maybe the wrong powder for that heavy of bullet???
