Cheaper Than Dirt

Just wondering if anyone has dealt with Cheaper Than Dirt when it comes to buying a firearm. My sister in law is buying her husband a deer rifle for their anniversary and wants to spend as little as possible due to being a stay at home mom. I figured a Savage Axis package would fit the bill and I can get it for $310 shipped from there with no transfer fee on my ffls end. Dont figure its going to get any cheaper than that for a decent gun. What are your exeriences with Cheaper Than Dirt? Thanks in advance, Josh

After what CTD did to gun owners in late 2008 and early 2009 I would not buy anything from them for any price. They are not friends of gun owners. Check with Bud's or some of the many others.

If the ffl holder is someone you know you can also look on galleryofguns.com as another option.Sorry I don't have any experience with Cheaper than Dirt.

Buds is cheaper than the other but my dealer wont do any transfers from Buds do to bad dealings in the past. He said too many of his customers have got screwed one way or another when using them so thats a no go. I may have to do some more searching or tell her she will just have to fork out a little more money.

Did a quick search on galleryofguns,it may be a different model and price where you are but I found a 270 Axis/scope package deal for $337 shipped to my nearest ffl.

Lots of dealers hate Bud's because they make them look bad with the pricing. Bud's is good to go. Might check with another FFL. We have a few FFL's around here that don't try to compete with Bud's. They accept transfers all the time. Matter of fact Bud's has a search feature that will show you FFL's in your area that do transfers from them.

cathntr,
I see that you have several Walmarts within 25 miles of Adrian. If you decide to try it you should call them before you go both to see if they sell guns and to check on what they have. Many Walmarts don't sell guns.

My dealer told me the only issue he has with Buds is their shipping. He told me the first time I contacted him about doing a transfer from there that he has had a couple customers in the past have to wait up to two months for their firearm to arrive. I have read a few reviews on their site that say the same thing. He has also told me that he understands them being able to sell things so cheap due to the volume they sale. Their anniversary isnt until June so she may have to look around awhile longer.

All the Wal-Marts close by sell firearms around here. Ill have to check with them but I was told before if its not on their shelf they charge a $25 fee for special ordering so it may not be any cheaper going that route. I will definately have to check though.

I bought a Remington 700 ADL in .243 for 399 in Wyoming. The package deal included scope, rings, bases and the scope was already bore sighted.

I guess you know that walmarts has a book behind the counter that you can look at for the model rifles that they can get in...

have to ask them for a look

I think the first post was supposed to be Budsgunshop.com I have bought from them and also I have bought from Impact guns both delivered quickly impactguns is alittle more $$ though but usually have a bigger selection if your going for ar15/10 stuff try Joe Bob Outfitters and you get a discount if your a member of Predatormasters forum

I have bought a few things from CTD, but not a firearm.. An engineer at werk has bought a few with no issues. When I buy firearms online I research price and avail first.. Bud's has never been the cheapest. Furthermore Buds low price is a non-credit card price..

I think I would ask for a second opinion from someone who knows what they are talking about. FWIW I think a savage axis should be on the shelf though, it has to be one of their better sellers.

+1 on the book behind the counter, last time I inquired about ordering there was no mention about a fee.
