Chesapeake Bay Retriever

I bought a Chesapeake Bay Retriever on Sunday that isn’t even born yet. He should be here around 20 Feb and home by early March.

This will be my second Chessy and I can’t wait to start training. Anyone else have a Chessy?

I used to hunt over a chessie back in the 60's toughest dog I ever saw, It was so cold out well below zero and we would still be hunting Mallards. Ol Duke would retrieve everthing we shot. I've had labs for 30 years now but those chessies have a place in my heart. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I Have 2!! full sisters 2 years apart, Mine is the older one at (13) years! and her sister is (11) The older one has had some problems but for the age you have to expect it. The 11 year old still thinks she is a pup! She realizes she isn't after a walk looking for rabbits! My dog (the older one) - A better friend I'll NEVER have! we used to go everywhere together although she can no longer get in the truck!(hips are bad)they both seem to have turned out 1 person dogs. the younger one is my boys dog. they both like everybody..but they are their owners best friend! when they are gone I won't have another dog..none will ever compare to the one i have!.I don't think you can go wrong with one!!.AL

Al Vt,

Sorry to hear about your Chessy's hips, that was the down fall of my Ginger.

I had Ginger longer than I'd been married, I always told my wife when we were dating that "to love me is to love my dog".

I know what you mean by saying "I'll never have another dog like that" but you will. Just makes the memory of the ones that are gone all that much stronger.

I hope you decide to get another dog when your ready.

Steve

Hey,
Now you guys are talking my language! I have owned nothing but Chesapeakes in my waterfowl hunting career. My Chessy name is "Red" He is so cute! My first Ches was named "Catfish". My second Ches was named "Mr. Wing" I really love my Chessies. They have all been masters of waterfowl hunting but excelled in hunting cats and coons with great lust.
