Choke Tube

I am going to order a Remington 870 X-Press tomorrow with a 3.5 inch chamber. I want to order a choke tube for the shotgun to use for turkeys and hopefully some coyotes. So I am wanting something that will hold a tight pattern as far as possible. What choke tube do you guys recommend?? Tom.

i have had good luck with rem superfull with 3in #4buck and 3in turkey loads, havent tried any 3.50 loads in buck or turkey loads, even though my 11-87 will shoot them.

I have a few 870's and the best choke i have found to shoot out of all of mine is a TRUGLO... I have shot about 5 or 6 different tubes out of them and it has had the best pattern for me. and they are only 20 bucks. Try one you might be surprised.

I just did some tube testing w/3 chokes all ported w/3.5 #5 shot rem. Premiers at 25 yds. 1.Primos tightwad .665 2.carlsons .655 3.Patternmaster longrange. The primoes and carlson had real tight patterns and the PM was the worst. The 2 would have good results out to 35/40yds and there like $20.00 tubes. The PM is way over rated for a $90.00 tube. Never like them for goose and duck.

i have had good luck with the Carlson extended steel shot choke for turkey with hevishot. I have the mid range and extended range. With the right shells they work good i coyote also. I did pick up a dead coyote choke i have been using lately. try them out there pretty cheep as far as chokes go.

+1 on Carlson's. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

The Dead Coyote choke will work for either coyotes or turkey. Use either the Federal Heavyweight Coyote load or their turkey load with the Flight Control wad system. You can't go wrong. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I've tried everything listed with just about every 3.5" lead and hevi load available. They all averaged between 120-170ish pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards.

I'm now shooting the Indian Creek Black Diamond Strike along with Hevi's 2.25oz 3.5" #6 load, and I'm getting just about 200 pellets every shot even with a dirty barrel. This is out of a 870 SPS Shurshot

I have had great results with the indian creek black diamond strike.
I run two .665 one in an 870 and one in an 11-87.
They pattered extreamly good with h13 heavy shot #6 in the turkey load and also really good with heavy shot dead coyote t shot as well as remington HD BB.
I just shot my biggest coyote to date this past saturday with a load of 3.5 inch dead coyote out of a 24 inch barreled 870 at about 35 yards 16 pellets in the neck shoulder region with a few more spraying hits left and right and up and down.
The dog never new what hit him,DRT with just a slight after flinch.
Ill post pics of this dog in the shotgun thread once i load them to the computer.
I have been so impressed with the indian creek chokes that i bought two different constrictions a .690 and a .710 for my SP10,i think the .690 will make a fantastic turkey choke and the .710 i hope works out real well with remingtons HD BB load for the 10ga.
Again i will post results in the shotgun thread once i pattern the 10ga.
