Who here has ever checked their arrows for proper balance, Chuck Adams had a formula for balance. I will find my book and post the formula for those who care to know. I had great luck with his formula

I don't know if he still hunts with aluminum arrows or not. The book I had talked about balancing aluminum arrows. Although I applied the same technique to my wooden arrows, and it worked well. I will post the specifics later today. I just have to dig through all my hunting magazines to find it. lol

The last interview that I read said yes. Chuck says "that the aluminum arrows are stronger and truer than the carbon arrows that are out there today, even though carbon arrows are the rage out there today".

I never got into the carbon arrow frenzy. The faster the bow the more unforgiving it is to human error. I shot more deer with my compound years ago with 29" 2219 arrows. They were indestructible. You should be able to get within 25 yards max of your deer with the proper set up. Most of the time I have shot deer at 15 yards or less. But I hunt hemlock trees and fairly thick cover. I shoot a recurve, so for me I hunt within my limitations.

I found that book from Chuck Adams, the way to check for proper arrow balance. For the sake of easy measurements it goes as follows. 1st measure the entire length of your arrow complete with nock and tip " field tip or Broadhead" Lets say the measurement is 30". Next balance your arrow on a pencil and put a mark on the arrow at the point where the arrow is balanced. Now put a mark at the exact center of your arrow, in this case its 15". Now measure the distance between exact center and where the arrow actually balances. In his diagram it showed the arrow balanced at 3" forward of exact center. That 3 inches equal 10 percent. He states for proper arrow flight, you want to be between 7 to 10 percent. SO to break it down divide the total length by the difference in inches from balance point and exact center. I hope this did not just cause you to fall asleep. I have used this method for many years, and it improved my accuracy and arrow flight.
