Chuck Hawks Online Site: worth it?

I've checked Cartridge History on the free part of it alot.
Never looked into the other areas.
I would imagine, there isn't much on there that can't be found on other sites and/or forums.

I remember when it was free. I pay for ammoguide interactive, you will get more for your buck in my opinion. Catridge developer, comparator, handloads, history, ballistic calculator ect. It used to be only 10 bucks.

IMO you are paying for someone else to do research that you can do yourself.. And it is one man's opinion, not gospel..

I believe Zilla is pretty much on point on this but...over the years, Chuck Hawks has done some very reliable testing and is certainly worth the consideration if someone is hung up on conflicting info. If that were to happen to me, I'd pretty much go choose Chuck's finding.

If you are acting as a 'professional' consultant, sites like Chuck Hawkes and others can be invaluable... but for the average, everyday Joe that is seeking an opinion on a specific item, there is a ton if information available, or at least the locations to find specific individuals that have personal experience, without paying for someone else's research efforts (that may be flawed)....

Every researcher has the potential of inflecting their personal prejudices and desires into a subject....and the resulting answer..

If you go out and invest a large amount of money in an item, or an item is given to you, free of cost, you tend to have a personal feeling about the item before you even use it...That can be a negative influence in your end evaluation...unless you can subject the item to quantitative evaluation against others of the same type and under identical conditions..

Few of us have the resources to acquire all items in a specific category and compare them, side by side, and then offer a totally objective opinion about the overall value/worth...and money spent on resources are best directed to longterm established firms, like Consumer Reports, as a start and them move to other resources for verification of those results..
