Anyone know anything about these revolver? I saw one today and man what a smooth action and trigger. The guy said they rated higher than the Ruger revolvers.

I love mine. Had a smith smooth it up a little more than factory and it is one seriously fun gun to shoot. Its even killed a couple coyotes!

How would I know if the one I am looking at is stainless or nickle? I think I am going to lay it away but dont think I would want it if it is nickle. Stainless would be better correct? Hows the accuracy on yours LB243?
Thanks
Daryl P.

Ive done a little reading this evening and I dont know about that but they are thought highly of from what I read.Does anyone know how strong they are as for heavy loads? Not that I will load heavy but somewhere under 1000 fps with 250 gr loads should be OK.ANy help on these would be great. I will probably try and make a deal tomorrow on this one if its stainless.

I've owned two of them in 45 Colt and they were POS. That was about 10 years ago and maybe things have changed. One was a 43/4" barrel on the P model and the other was a Custer Commemorative with a 7 1/2" barrel.

The P went down about 3 times with various problems and each time the gunsmith would make remarks about tinpot metal being used on the innards. I replace those parts with Colt parts and by the end of the day had more of a Colt than a Cimmaron. After that I ended up giving it to one of our sons with a warning to watch how it operated very closely.

The Custer I gave to another son with the same warning. The Custer was in the gunsmith shop twice. I felt that at the end of the day I could not in good conscience sell either one of those shooters to anyone and feel good about it even when one local Cowboy Action shooter, and a good one, wanted the Custer.

Customer service was beyond a joke and basically would not receive either one of the pistols back for a review. They would not believe the problems I was having with them and would not return a call from the gunsmith detailing the problems. I will never buy anything from Uberti or Cimmaron again.

I dont know about rated higher than Rugers not strengh wise they or any Colt clone are not as strong as a Ruger you need to look at some reloading manuals 1000 fps with a 250gr bullet is pushing it for that

My dad has a 45 colt and a 357 mag. Both the short barrels. The 45 is a really accurate pistol. Haven't had an issue with either of them. I hate shooting the 357 with that short barrel, HATE IT. If I was a 45 colt fan I'd buy one myself but if I buy another revolver it'll be in 44 mag. I used to run my 230 xtp at almost 1600 with a 5 3/4" barrel. Great muzzle flash and it definately kicks, but I love it.

Break one open some time and then revisit your statement about them being "rated as highly as Rugers". I used to do a lot of pistol-smithing for different cowboy action shootists, frankly, the Cimmaron is great for someone that wants to pretend they have a colt, but don't plan on shooting much, and won't shoot very heavy loads.

A Ruger, they are not...

Remember who buys these then who writes reviews. 1) guys that don't have a clue, and puts a 5 star review online before they've even gotten it out in the field the first time, or after their first box of ammo. 2) avid shooters that bought one as a budget alternative to a Colt, then had it re-vamped before putting it into service. Most of us that did any cowboy action work knew you'd end up a couple hundred bucks in replacement parts to get them running right, by then you had way more in it than you would have had in a Ruger that would have only needed a spring kit and a locking basepin.

To each his own, but my $ would not be wasted on one.

I agree with you except that it may cost you more than a couple hundred bucks to get the darn thing operable and safe. I had a total of 5 repair jobs in the two Cimmarons that I had and the company was no help at all.

Id take the ruger over the cimmaron any day of the week.

I have a lightning, I like it ok, but be sure to buy extra spring kits when you order it, they dont last long, seems like every colt clone Ive had, decided to have cylinder stop issues early on, easy quick fix, but annoying. it is accurate though.

The 3 rugers that ive had never had an issue at all, all great shooters.

I own a Beretta Stampede in .45, which I believe is built by Uberti also.

The action is extremely smooth and it's a joy to shoot. But I'm that guy that just has it for fun - it reminds me of the antique Colt SAA my dad had that taught me so much about pistol shooting.

If you want to carry it as a sidearm for bears etc then you need to off it and get a Ruger. Clunkier and not as smooth, but you can load it hot and count on the mechanics.

I have a SUper BH 7.5in barrel hunter in 44 mag. I also have a New Model BH in 45 colt. And now I have the Cimaron in 45 colt. All are stainless. I just thought it would be a neat gun to shoot and just enjoy but yes my Rugers are my hunting tools.
