Cleaning gas block and tube

I think it is time to clean my gas tube and was wondering how far I should go on this clean up.
Do I need to take the rifle apart and clean the gas block as well.
How do I keep from getting dirt in the block and the hole in the barrel.
The rifle is a 243wssm built by D-Tech,how do I get the handguard off, will it slip over the gas block??
As you can tell I have never done this before and dont want to mess up.

There is no need to clean the gas tube or the gas port in the gas block. Its has Thousands of PSI every time you shoot, so theoretically it is self cleaning. If there is anything inside of the tube it will be blown out into your chamber/bolt carrier assembly(like carbon).

If you are still unsure, call Mike himself.
