Clothing color for night hunting

I use whatever camo that provides me comfort. So when really cold, I wear really heavy clothes or waterproof when really wet, etc. First coyotes don't see colors the same way we see them but I do believe having some type of camo or pattern helps break up your outline. I don't wear black. I do wear white camo when there is snow on the ground. Coyotes see by movement. You get by with more movement at night than during the day especially on really dark nights, but just use the same common sense as daytime hunting.

Al Morris hunted in a Santa Suit on this episode of FoxPro hunting TV:

Agree with Kirsch. I wear mostly the camo I had for hunting in the day just because I have it already and the same thought of it possibly helping to break up my outline. Try to think lighter though as to much dark, especially black makes for a really dark blob that IMO makes you more pronounced. When the fall comes around and things turn brown to tan I wear just plain to lighter colored camo pants and plain tan Carhart shirt or light camo there as well. When my sons go with me and I dress them similar they don't look as pronounced as when I use to dress darker.

I agree with what has been said so far. I wear the camo that I need to use to be warm enough and try to somewhat match my surrounding as with daytime hunting. I do wear snow camo when there is snow on the ground as well.

I'll add to the mix that IMO moon illumination is the most important.

If your hunting during a new moon cycle you can wear anything (except skinny jeans because you could be raped by a male coyote or hit on by someone thats transgender. Also the pants that have the designs on the back pockets are no-go as well)

During a dark moon you can get by with more movement, no camo, skylining and hunting closer to the truck or even in the back if its a highrack and legel.

If the moon is IMHO brighter than about 15% I try to make sure I'm away from truck a good distance, wear some type of camo, and utilize natural objects to hide my silhouette.

I usually wear olive colored Carhartt bibs and a brown hoodie.
Camo is ok, and I do wear it sometimes but I don't think it makes a difference either way. Faded out or light colored camo will reflect moonlight so be aware of that.
I never wear black. Black will make you stand out as darker than the background, if that makes any sense.

Thanks I appreciate your input. I usually wear tans unless there is snow on the ground I will go with snow camo. I ran into a guy today that said I needed to be in black when hunting at night and it had me thinking a bit so I thought I would ask the experts. Thanks again
