Cmc trigger and other ar15 newbie questions.

I just ordered a cmc single stage 3.5# flat trigger.

Now that I've orderded it I'm thinking I want something lighter in trigger pull weight.

I will be putting it on a varmint rig I just bought. This is my first ar.

Is 3.5 light enough or should I say, is anything lighter unsafe. I will be using it for shooting paper and varmints. I have built several 700s and use jewel triggers at about 2#s. I really like a light trigger.

Will I be happy with the cmc trigger? And is anything less than 3.5 not safe with a ar15? I am a real newb to ar's.

Btw, it's a cmmg 24" flutted bull flat top. I've allready ordered a tubb up tight grip, accuwedge and several other things. What else do I need to make it shoot as good as possible?

Oh and it's a 204 ruger with a 12 twist.

Thanks guys!!!

The cmc trigger isn't what I was expecting. It's a little more trigger pull weight than I wanted and there's a little more take up than I'm used to.
I do like the flat trigger though.

I guess the jewel triggers have spoiled me.

Is there any other trigger for the ar platform that are more like a good bolt action trigger? Crisp, clean and light?

Like I said before, this is my first ar and I don't really know much about them yet but I'm learning.

Thanks a lot fellas.

I have a CMC trigger in my Action Match Ar and have been extremely happy with it...However, it is not a "Benchrest" type trigger...It's good for what I do/did and for hunting applications....An "accidental discharge" during a competition can get you disqualified and one during a hunting situation can cause injury or death to someone...

If you are primarily interested in "Benchrest" shooting at PDs and targets, there are better triggers made for that purpose..You need one that it's pull weight can be measured in ounces, rather than pounds..

yeh, once you get used to good light triggers it is hard to use anything else. I grew up on a FN mauser in 257Rob. with adjustable double set triggers and it spoiled me. Ive shot some decent groups with my 6.8SPCII upper on a PC lower but I know I can do better if I swap out the trigger group. I was also looking at the CMG flat but have not decided where to spend my money yet.

Giesselle DMR 2 stage will give you everything you've asked for in this thread. I've got 2, and one is 5-6 years old. Once adjusted, you never have to touch them again.
