Cold bore shot POI?

I know it probably differs from every rifle and ammo type but how far off point of aim is acceptable on a cold bore shot? I'd prefer my cold bore shot to be closer than it is with my new CZ 455. Distance is 50 yards, ammo is Eley Team (blue box), fired 5 shots. 4 cut the ragged hole. Would you switch ammo? I use the rifle for squirrels and such...seems this is awfully high to me?

Yeah, and that one looks a long ways out. About 2 inches?

NO DOUBT! Consistant results like above would have me drive me insane.

What you need to do is shoot the CB shot on a target, then let it cool for 5-10 mins and shoot 1 and repeat... This will show if the CB will group or not.

CB is the only one that matters when hunting.

Yep, need more info (more shooting). That very well could be just a flyer you see from time to time with .22's (cowinky that it was the 1at shot). I hate messing with agrevating rimfires.

That's the way it's looking. I've since shot several more rounds,1 at a time every 7 minutes and it's shooting them into respectable groups..poi connects with poa on every shot. Not as good as the group above but easily covered by a dime

I've seen this alot with rimfires. Some will probably disagree, so be it, but a rimfire usually throws the first few bullets until it warms up. That is why they put sighter targets on BR50 targets. My 10/22 and my Savage both throw the first few rounds until the barrel warms up a bit. JMO

Do it the Carlos Hathcock way:
Shoot one shot today. Note
Shoot one shot tomorrow. Note
Etc., etc., etc.,

At the end of the week, (hopefully the weather was stable during the week) Adjust accordingly.

Not 100% exactly his way but close so that a sniper always would know where the CB shot would end up. As stated above, it's the only shot that counts.

for over fourty years i have always shot at least one shot when i get close to where i am going to hunt.always make sure i still have zero.and i never shoot 50yds

I had this problem with my savage, and I started playin with the ammo and was able to cure that, but every now and then it will throw one about a half inch or so from the rest. I would maybe try some mini mags. My savage loves the stinger's.

Tn- the bore wasn't clean but was cold.

I tried all day to get it to do it again but it just stacked them in a nice group. I let the bbl cool 7-10 minutes in between each shot. Idk why it threw the first one so far off. I'm going to do it again in a couple of days.
