colorado lion hunting

I have been thinking about lion hunting for about 5 years now. I took the test last night and missed one question.
How many of the members from CO Lion hunt besides ELKS? How hard is it to call a lion? I am new to calling and I mostly use an E-caller. I know I can not us the e-caller which is the point of my question. Could a hunter not that good at the mouth calls get one to come in.

Yes, but expect to spend alot of time not seeing anything. Unless you have alot of luck on your side lions can take a lot of time to come in.
Do a search, there is alot of good info on this site discussing calling lions, both with hand and electric calls.
Right place, right time, right critter seem to factor into alot of success.

I know it will not be easy to call one. I also know that even if I did I probably would not see it. Knowing my look I would call in a world record and get eat for dinner.

Well,

The best thing you can do is find an area with a good population. Find sign and call. Really the only tips are to sit long hours, wait and watch. I am working on the ecaller piece, but probably will not get it on teh agenda til next spring. I would suggest getting a wing man for sure. Again you have to hunt where they are. That means some spooky walking, colling in think stuff.

If your successful, it will be the greatest rush hunting you can imagine.

Good luck!

That is the first issue. I need to get out to scout.
I talked to a rancher that had some lama killed but he only owns 10 acres. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
I will keep an eye out this year when I am Elk hunting. I think the USDA has almost everything that eats sheep run off. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I will check on the population in my area but I think I may need to go for a drive to get into a good population area.

Let me know if I can do anything for you on the E-caller thing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I was going to hunt some bob cats up that way though.

Been there,

I primaraly hunt the smaller vermin but I have always hoped on landing a cat. In my 4-5 years at it I have never called one in (that I know of). Part of this lack of sucess is certainly attributed to a poor local population. Either way If you are ever intrested in pairing up, Im hear in Denver.

Good luck be safe /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
