Combing/Consolidating Forums

All,

We're going to be consolidating the number of sub forums we have. There are just too many. The page is way too long. I think we ended up with so many back when having posts scroll off the page was a problem but that's not a problem we have anymore. Combining several sub forums into one parent forum will get more people seeing each of the posts, more replies, more interactions etc. And it will just make navigating the forum easier, especially on a phone. No posts are being deleted. Just moved. Here are where things are being moved to:

The following are all being moved to Predator Hunting
- Baiting
- Calling in The East
- The Great White North
- Predator Biology
- Ask the Game Warden
- Youth Hunter

The following are being moved to Varmint Hunting, which will be renamed Varmint and Small Game Hunting
- Small Game Hunting
- Bird Hunting
- Predators of the Deep

Bowhunting will be moved into Big Game Hunting

Humor is being moved to Member Club House

In addition to the above, some forums which have not seen activity for a long time will simply be archived and no longer visible, without moving the posts.

And, we'll be doing some rearranging of the forums to make sure the most active and popular forums are closer to the top of the page. Again, this will just make it easier to use the forum especially on a phone.

This is starting immediately, so some of these changes may already be made by the time you read this.

I enjoyed the Hunting in the East forum. I am in Virginia and I made a lot of contacts there. The East forum was the reason that I posted on Predator Masters. I don't really have anything in common with the guys in the west. Their hunting style and ours is just too different. Thanks for having me as a member these last 14 years but I won't be posting any more.

I don't understand how anyone feels this is an east vs west situation.

To me, it's all about hunting predators and the methods employed, not the location it takes place in.

Where is the forum where folks make their on gear?

Is this what you're looking for?

Yep. Is it still listed that way and I just look over it?

How is this helping you in any way? You enjoyed posting and sharing your hunts. You enjoyed reading about other's hunts. You can still do that here. You do have things in common with hunters in the west, you both enjoy hunting coyotes. A lot of those guys are hunting hills and sagebrush and scrub with cover so tight that if they sit down they can't see over the top of it and coyote shots are within close shotgun ranges. Unless a guy thinks he already knows it all, he just might pick up on something here and there that would enhance his setups in the East. Or visa versa. If you read any of those sticky threads on the Eastern forum there were some that I posted on when this place was birthed. In those threads, there were a few western hunters who pitched in and stated that some of the tactics we used in the East were the same way they went about things in the western mountains. Some hunting practices are universal.

You guys who disagree with canceling the Eastern forum have a right to express your opinions and wishes. However, to leave PM because you didn't get your way is childish. That is a tribal mentality, east vs. west, and you are only interested in getting your way and not in the big picture of what is best for the website. At least give it a try and see how it goes as it has been set up now. You might like it. If you don't like how things go bring the subject back up at a later date. Or, stomp your feet and leave if that is your way. I am making a case to keep you guys here because I have respect for the great posts and hunting stories that were posted in the Eastern forum. Those posts have value and you all have been and could continue to be great contributors to PM. At one time I was the moderator of that forum and felt strongly about it. I am certainly willing to see how things go as is and give it a try for the overall best interest of Predator Masters. Never make decisions when you're emotional. Give some thought to hanging on and continuing to contribute to the forums before you throw in the towel. My 2.5 cents worth.

Took me some searching to find out where it disappeared to. Stick around here Mike ! The friendships / contacts we have made here have taken years for us to accumulate. Hopefully most will stick around ! The new revision might be a little different at first but we will adjust. I’m already liking different things myself, like posting pics for one. I enjoy seeing your success afield as well as many others, especially when we are unable to hunt ourselves at times.

Many of us maybe set in our ways but change is not always bad 😉 ! I always tell folks our learning process is never over 😃 !
