Went out for quick set this morning since it was going to be the calmest day of the week and while driving in I spotted three coyotes crossing the road about 300 yards before I made my turn into the farm. I grabbed my stuff quick and ran in to get set up before they got too far. The wind was from the east and bad for my position but I figured they would have traveled far enough north by the time I got to the stand to not make me. Turned on "Lightning Jack" on low then ramped it up a bit and three minutes later they came running. I hastily made a shot and missed the first coyote then, as the second started to turn I barked at it hard until it finally stopped out at 150 yards. Took a quick second to place my crosshairs on her and Pop! Thwop! (See what I did there @Big Lou
) she was down. The third coyote was now out at 300 yards and stopped briefly just over a rise so I didn't bother shooting.
So this has me thinking, this is the second coyote off this property in just over a week. I have to wonder just how long they remember what happened prior the week before as they came in full bore this morning.
