Hi there guys,i have been useing a 222 10" oct on my contender and am looking for a little more punch and accuracy.I have a chance to buy a 223 in 23" length for $230.It is a bull bbl. anybody out there have any experiance with this set-up? it looks like it has a very fast twist,it is new, no sights,is this a good price?

That's about the going rate around here for a new barrel.I have owened several .223 14 inch and they all were good shooters.I have a .222 10 inch bull barrel and a super 14 in .223 ,there's not a lot of diffrence in the two.But I bet 23 inches would step it up a bit.

Rascals, I've been hunting with a Contender Carbine for the past 24 years, especially in 223 Rem. You will be impressed with the carbine set up and the 223 overall. $230 seems to be the going price but it's still a fair price. The 222 is a great round but you'll be real impressed with the 223 rifle as it is handy, accurate and I've had the opportunity to put a few heavy barreled varmint shooters to shame on the praire dog range. Good luck. kt

Will go along with the rest. Both I and my hunting partner have Contender carbines in .223 HB. Both shoot very well. If you have one that doesn't shoot like you think it should, check out the forearm and go to one of the sites that will tell you how to fix it. Have had to do this with two of my three T/C carbines.

Prof243: Will you or any one list sites that tell how to tune up the Contender fire arms. I have 22 LR and a 7 MM TCU 14 inch barrels . Bad groups from each of them.

I have the T/C custom shops bull barrel. I think that price is about the norm for a new barrel. I held out and bought mine for a steal, fired once and never scoped, included burris bases, $90. Guy bought it and couldn't decide on a scope. Then he started parting out his collection cheap. Shoots good, still need to get it broke in. Groups are shrinking the more I shoot it. Mine seems to like the White Box Winchester 45 gr. Managed to take my only yote to date with it and several groundhogs.
