ContenderG2 and Encore... differences?

I have decided that in my old age I need a new toy... One that will let me play with more calibers than I could ever want to own... (IMPOSSIBLE)...

So I would like some comparisons on the two frames available from TC... The Contender G2 and the Encore.

basically the encore is a larger frame, designed for higher pressure chamberings, ie .243 .308 .30-06 etc

while the G2 is designed for lower pressure chamberings.

Good luck

Dave

Thanks...

I think I will go with the Encore... So many to choose from... this is going to be fun...

The barrel selection is phenomenal... TC and EABCO and others...

My first choice is going to be tuff to make...

You get more choices for off the shelf calibers in the Encore, but the smaller G2 is much better handling and lighter as well. I prefer my G2 to my Encore and am working with the 7-30 Waters and hopefully a 6.5 JDJ or Bullberry for my go to cartridges.

My 0.02...

Like was said the basic difference is size. I have both and I much prefer the G2. There are cartridges with plenty of power for deer and such available in the G2 and with the 204 or 223 it is a great carry predator carbine too. They are a nice little handy accurate carbine. The barrel is a little heavy or it would be even nicer. TnTnTn

Its best to go and handle both, I had the encore because i wanted the 243, After handling the G2, I traded it off, it just fit so much better in my hand.

take a look over at eds contenders as well, good to deal with, good pricing but you have to call him as his website is not usually updated.

Make sure you try out a .45/410 barrel, rabbit hunting will never be the same LOL

I am assuming this is going to be in a handgun correct?

then there's a couple variations of the "old style" Contender, and some have been upgraded and aren't what they orginally were. They're easy to tell apart from the G2 version. The G2 (usually) has no engraving. The old style contenders had several different engraving patterns.

But the big difference is that you can cock a G2 hammer, let down, and re-cock it without opening the frame. If you cocked the hammer on an old style, you had to let it down, open the frame (to reset the sear), then cock it again.

I like the old style Contenders best.
