After two blank stands, things came together on the third. I was playing Cotton Heat on the X24 and spinning in circles trying to cover 360 degrees. When I get back around to the direction of the slough, I catch one barreling in. It was new moon pitch dark, so it took me a few seconds to locate my gun on the tripod. By then she had already hit the caller. She stopped there for a second, or maybe just seemed like it because the scope NUC'd just then, and I shot where she used to be.

Incredibly, after all that, she only ran about 50 yards and stopped. I dropped her with a second shot. Her buddy apparently wasn't dissuaded by two suppressed gunshots either, because he wasn't far behind. I got them both, but it could have easily ended with me kicking dirt clumps in disgust all the way back to the truck.
