Some county's here in Texas have it, and it usually $20.00. I heard that one maybe going to $35.00.

I heard Reagan County pays $65 on yotes and heard that if you cash in in Mertzon in Irion County it pays $70. And guess what, there are few coyotes in those counties.

That's true about Reagan county, but it's a "ranchers pool" type, and when I do kill a coyote down there, I tell the rancher and turn down the bounty. That goes a LONG way with rancher support. Randy

There are a few counties that have a bounty in Wyoming. The ranchers pretty much foot the bill for this fund through the "Predator fee" they have to pay when they have their livestock brand inspected. It usually starts about Nov. 1 and goes till the money dries up which is usually Feb or so. Pretty good program, but like everything that deals with money, there are a few cheaters that ruin it for the rest of us.

Don't know about Wyoming, but in Utah people mostly cheat by hauling in coyotes from "wherever" they were killed, to collect on bounty money for coyotes that are "supposed" to be killed in the county paying the bounty.

The fur is worth a lot more than the $20 bounty these days, but I kind of doubt the guys who would cheat on a bounty would go to the trouble of putting up fur.

I live in Douglas county Oregon and we have a ten dollar bounty here. There was a short period of time when the local ranchers got it up to 100 dollars, but did not last long. Money ran out quick. Shoot most of my yotes in central Ore. I dont bring the ears back to collect the bounty. I could make some gas money doing this. I leave that for the low life hunters. Bob

Randy's right. While they do pay in some counties, many counties have a "pool" where ranchers actually pay out of their pocket for the bounty. In Reagan County, I also turn down the payment but make sure the rancher knows when I kill a cat or coyote. (either hang on an interior fence if they want me to or e-mail/regular mail them a picture of the kills. It makes their day and it goes a long way in building a strong relationship with that rancher. I'd rather have that than the money any day.

Take care,

Rusty
