Coyote howls and when to use them

I'm new to this and was wondering what kind of howls should I use and what time of year should I use them. I live in south ga, I assume that breeding season is fall, birthing season in spring. I have read that certain types of howls are to be used during breeding season, but what type of howls should I be using now? Also, I've read that coy pup 3 distress is a favorite, but should I be using that call since pups haven't dropped yet?

Thanks in advance for advice.

First lets start with breeding season, it not in the fall in most places its jan, feb, and early march. Female deep howls, female sub howls, female sore howls, and female whimpers work good. Basically any female sound besides challenge howl u want to use. I usually only howl at first light or right before dark, i have most luck the last hour of daylight. As far as pup distress 3 and pup screams go they work all year. Coyotes dont worry if its right time of year to be hearing pups, juS like you can use distress sounds that are not native to your area. I have called in coyotes with jackrabbit sounds even though They are not in nc. The main key is your setup and wind, i prefer to setup with a crosswind so i can catch coyotes tryin circle downwind. I prefer a setup with a field or open area downwind so a coyote has to come out in open to wind me. I also prefer a setup that gives coyotes a couple different ways in that they feel safe using like ditches or creek bottoms with brush bcuz its hard to get yotes out in the open during daylight here in the east. I hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions ypu have im no expert and kinda new to it also.

In this part of SC everything is usually a bit off, but I'm not horribly far from you so it could be close. I typically notice breeding season patterns in Jan-Feb and right now they are breaking off from that and getting back to more "normal" behavior in terms of coming to the call and coming to distress. Last year March was my best month and this year is proving to show the same. It was tough hunting January and the first few weeks of Feb, but the last couple weeks it has really turned back on pretty good.

Yea january and feb. Were slow around here in central nc for me. I dont think i heard a single howl and only called 2 in on differe t sets and never got a shot b4 they winded me they came in so fast and skittish. But things may be picking up soon even though its been so hot ive heard coyotes howling last 2 mights around my house.

I was unsure about gestation length thanx for the info. I know around here it seems pups are born around may here in central nc and i usually start hearing them howl in august or september.
