Coyote hunting around Duval and Clay county Florida

Hey all,

I'm new to the whole coyote hunting thing. I got interested in it after I bought my first ar15 (I have 3 now they are addicting). I'm tired of blowing away shootnsee targets, and I'm not a deer hunter, so I figured that coyote hunting would be a good place to start. I've seen what they can do to local wildlife, after all I lived in Maine most of my life and they've really hurt the deer population there. I'd like to do my part in wildlife conservation in my new home.

I've watched Byron South's videos and I'm confident that I can use his advice and call some coyotes in, but I haven't got the slightest ideas in where to start looking for a place to hunt them in the Jacksonville/Orange Park area. I know where the WMA's are, but I'm looking for tips to get on some public lands so I can hunt year round. Thanks...

Dave,

As far as I know there are no public lands in Florida that you can hunt anything on year round.

You can hunt coyotes in Wildlife Management Areas during just about any game season. If you play your game seasons right you can hunt 'yotes from September through April if you are willing to hunt several areas but not year round.

Ocala National Forest and Osceola National Forest should keep you busy for most of the year when you don't have mosquitos such as September through April.

If you are looking for year 'round hunting try ranchers, dairy owners, and citrus grove owners. They might be having "varmint" problems.
