Coyote hunting during Colorado Elk season

When I am elk hunting in Colorado with an out of state tag can I hunt coyotes AFTER I fill my cow tag as long as I use a .22 centerfire? I understood it that I could only shoot a coyote with my unfilled elk tag. I have never wanted to do that because I didn't want to explode one with my .300 winny & I didn't want to run off any elk that were close by. I understand I would have to buy a Furbearers license & I don't apose that, I just understood it that furbearer season was closed during the elk seasons after you filled your tag. Thanks, for the info upfront....Dean-o

Dean-o, according to the regs., you CAN hunt coyotes during big game season IF you have an "unfilled" deer or elk license for the season that you are hunting and you CAN use a rifle larger than .23 caliber as long as you ALSO have a small game license!
Now, if your big game tag is filled, it is unclear if you can hunt coyotes and with what caliber! But, the way I read it is you COULD hunt coyotes with a "filled" tag as long as you used a rifle caliber smaller than the .23! You do not need a furbearer tag in CO. to hunt coyotes, but you MUST have a small game license!
