What do you guys think about hunting them in a foggy conditions you can see about 200 yards most of the time. Iam not worried about them sneaking up on me but I know coyote hunting sucks in the rain and I was just wondering about fog. really want to go today and tried this morning but only could see about 50-100 yards thanks for any info

Fog is good as the yotes feel more secure and are more willing to come out in the open. With fog means that there is no wind which always makes it easier to squeal in a yote.

not only is it foggy but it is kind of windy also

I just noticed that you mentioned it was windy as well. Out here that's pretty rare to have both fog and wind at the same time. I guess all you can do is go out and give it a try.

I know thats what I thought that the wind would just blow the fog away but we are out here in the plains so I dont know why it does that but the wind is going and the fog is still here /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The ole yotes do seem less spooky in the fog. I got one back in Jan of this year in the fog, he came up to just 16 yds of me before I said " stop" and hit the trigger.

i've hunted in fog only once, so my fog-hunting experience level is lower than a snake's belly in a wagon track. but i wonder . . . . . . in fog should one face directly downwind, to better detect those critters that want to first get a snoot full of the sound source before committing? i wish i knew what wind direction COYOTE CONTROL's 16-yarder came in from, and how far the visibility was that day.

well no luck today I knocked the crap out of then in Idaho then back in washington I have yet to call one in this year! I have a new rifle and every thing that has yet to draw blood!

When hunting in the fog you can call places that you can't at any other time. One place that I hunt when ther is fog on the ground has no vegatation higher than eight eniches. I walk in when there is fog on the ground then call when the fog lifts. The coyotes never new I was there.
