Coyote Prices in your areas?

A friend of mine went to the Fur Auction up in Bowling Green yesterday to sell some of his fur. I asked him what the coyotes brought and he said there were 15 or so offered and they brought 5.00 a piece. He said for Ohio yotes - they didn't look that bad -there were some nice big pale colored ones - but still only 5.00 a piece - he was disappointed in his fox prices - 14.00 a piece on them. What area are you in and what prices have you been getting out of your fox and coyotes?

The local guy I take it to in central lower Michigan gives $15 in the round for a yote, as long as there is not to much damage and it has nice fur. Atleast that's what he has posted on his board in his shop this year. I don't remember what he posted for fox.

Sounds like we need to sell our furs up north! Ohio doesn't have the nice silky fur that Utah and Wyoming and those states out west have. Ours are bigger but courser fur.

For some reason the fur dealers aren't that interested in them here. I'm wondering if NAFA or Fur Harvester's would be a better place to sell the canines. I think most of the fur that was sold up at Bowling Green were probably harvested through trapping. I'm sure there were some taken by hunting as well. Usually this sale has better prices being the first auction of the year. I'm anxious to see what the NAFA sale is going to bring later this month on eastern coyotes.

Don't know for sure what they are bringing here. The last bunch of coyotes I sold I got $1 a piece and I had to talk him into that so I wouldn't have to take them back home. I trap also and had a nice bunch of coons, beavers and a few otters to sell also otherwise the 120 mile round trip to the fur buyer would have been pretty disappointing. The Trapper and Predator Caller and Fur,Fish, Game both print fur market reports each month and the last issue of both are predicting offers of $10 and down for Eastern yotes. You may do better at NAFA or Fur Harvesters if high gas prices keep long line trappers at home in the West and the market demand for coyote fur is strong driving the preferred Alberta/Montana/Dakota furs way up.

I don't know about Minnesota but here in New York taxidermist in our area will give up to $200 for nice cats. They don't want you to put a blade to them either because they mount them and sell the mounts. At least that's what a trapper friend of mine told me and he's sold at least two so far.

Thanks for the info, I think I'll give the taxidermist first crack at buying a bobcat. I did it last year with a couple of really nice coyotes. I just wasn't sure what to charge for a cat.

I took some smal ones to the furhouse in bolivar,mo and he told me $4.00 to $5.00. They were small ones though. Bigins bring a lil more.

They were $20 bucks in EARLY NOVEMBER here in western north dakota. I havnt taken any lately but im sure its around the same if not a little more for real nice prime ones.

I'm located in southern, ca and there isn't any furbuyers that i know of. lately i've been freezing the pelts and sending them to my father in upstate ny to sell. [beeep] there is so many coydogs out here seasons year round most predator hunters just cut the tails off and toss em.
