I just finished tanning my first coyote it turned out very good but it still smells like a coyote. Is there any thing I can do or is it to late. Also I used Rittels #100 tan it said the fleash will turn white, the skin on the coyote is brown what did I do wrong. Other than those two things it turned out good nice in soft just a little hair slippage on the tail where I for got to salt. I'm going to do my second one in a couple days just wanted to get these two things straightend out.

The only thing I can think of now that it's tanned, and without rehydrating it again, would be the nuetralizer spray used on some skunks. JLBean, something like that is the manufacturer. You'll see it in Van Dykes.

Any hide that you tan and it has a foul odor to it, give it a good washing after you've skinned it. With some laundry soap or dish soap. You should wash them if they have a lot of blood in the fur also. The salt tends to set the blood.

As far as the skin color of your coyote, I'm going to GUESS that it's caused by the hide being a southern harvest. Not to worry.

River Runner, I did wash it before I tanned it I will try tha other stuff you recommended. Have you recieved the deer yet. If so is it still in good shape. Thanks

Took me a minute to figure out who you were there Destroyer. When I seen "Sierra Vista, AZ " on your post it hit me.
