coyote winter coat vs summer coat

Just started hunting coyotes here in utah. can someone in here tell me when, in the summer, the coyote pelts become useful again. I understand, from what I've been told, they get a little nasty when they lose their winter coat.

Wow, ...useful summer pelts? That's a tough one.
I can't say that I ever seen a summer pelt worth saving. Each area might be different though, cpjw40.

Around here coyotes start giving birth to their young in April. So, if I had to guess a good month to take a pelt in the summer I'd say mid July. I'd have to think that anything before would be rubbed to nothing from denning with the pups.

I've never even bothered to carry in any coyotes shot during the summer.

Don't even think about saving pelts before the 3rd week in October. They start to get their winter coat around the 1st of September, but the hair doesn't set until October. The inside of the hide will be blue and the hair will come out by the handful.
