thee are a fair number of turkeys around our farm, and i was wondering if anyone had ever used or even heard of a turkey distress call??? would a yote even mess with a turkey?? any thoughts??

I am new to the coyote calling and have only been on 2 hunts but the guy that I deer and turkey hunt with says he has called coyotes with a regular hen yelp on the property we are hunting. Take it for what it is worth but I think if there is a natural food source around there like turkeys I would have to say that the coyotes are eating them.

Yees coyotes will eat a turkey dinner.. And just use your hen yelp, it seems to work in the turkey season... Alot of yote come to it...

Yes there are several diffrent turkey destress tapes on the market and coyotes will come to them. They are very efective calls. I have had coyotes come to just a regular turkey call. I have also had bobcats respond to turkey calls. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have had several yotes come in to turkey calls. I seen on tv where a yote ran right up and grabbed a turkey decoy and started to run off with it. so yes the will eat turkeys

A LITTLE off the subject: while using my Tail-Wagger Dee Rear decoy while bowhunting for deer, I've had many turkeys come in to it. This happens while I'm NOT calling or anything. I suspect they think a deer has found a source of acorns and wants to get in on it.

They love to eat turkeys. The only two coyotes iv'e ever called in came to within forty yards one evening while i was trying to put a gobbler to roost,of course i didn't have a gun and i haven't seen a coyote since.

Year before last I called in 2 coyotes while yelping on a slate during the spring turkey season. They winded me before getting into shotgun range. I believe that JS has a gobbler distress tape.

I find it funny this question was asked because just yesterday the guy up the road from me had to call the game comission. As it turns out he has been feeding a flock of turkeys for the last two months in his backyard. We have had over a foot of snow down here in northeast pa since before christmas, not to mention record breaking cold.Deer and turkeys are starting to hurt in my opinion.Anyway it turns out a couple of coyotes have been running up and grabbing a turkey in this guy's yard the past week or so.This guy actually called to complain to the game comission about the situation.Coyotes have to eat too! This guy is acting like the yotes are trying to eat his children. Unfortunately for me there are too many houses around the area for me to try some calling and capitalize on the turkeys bad luck. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
