Coyotes in eastern VA?

Fox season is out and winter is still here. Is there anyone out there that has successfully hunted coyotes in Lancaster, Middlesex, Mathews or Gloucester county Virginia? Are there enough coyotes out there to stand a reasonable chance or is it more of a needle in the haystack situation in those eastern counties of Virginia?

Heck no! Just a look at most of the newspapers along the seaboard will tell you there are plenty of coyote's. ANywhere there is a thicket to hide in during the day htey are there. Jimmie

Not having any luck finding coyotes. Can anyone close to these counties give me some tips on just finding out if there are any around. I saw where one person close to Richmond said they were just making a comeback in his area. Is it possible that they are not thick enough in my area to hunt?

I read on here some where that a hunter in the eastern part of the country went out and howled between 11 pm and 2 am to get them to howl back. He said it was the only time he could get them to howl. So you might want to try that to lacate them. I have not tried it yet let us know how it does if you try it.

Regardless of the humor Jimmie in Kentucky sends our way, there are some coyotes around, but they are very localized. I don't know much about your area, but I have seen three road killed coyotes along I-64 over the last year between Exit 214-Providence Forge and Exit 234 Lightfoot. They just aren't as plentiful as one would hope after them being here in the area this long.
