It has been another great day on the crane flyway. Matt,Chad and I hit a new area we have been saving back. It paid off pretty good with all of us getting our limits. I was the 1st to limit with some pretty hot shooting. I had been in a slump but got my old form back this morning.

Many years ago we drew permits to go to the NC coast and take a swan. You could see them coming 15 minutes before they were within range. It was like shooting down a small airplane.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thats no joke. I have killed two swans here in Utah and they are huge. Alot of fun but they are hard to take down some times. By the way Bob that sure looks like a tasty meal /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif What do they taste like?
 
WOW you are lucky. I live in the crane hugging state of Nebraska. If I were even to suggest a crane season I imagine I'd get strung up. It is a huge tourist deal here, they come watch em hang out on the Platte, the call it Crane Watch 09 and that kind of stuff. I'd like to watch em over a ventilated rib
 
I agree about NE. When I was hunting in Kearney last spring you couldn't even hear the turkeys because the cranes were making soooooo much noise.

OBrian and I just finished up one big batch of crane jerky. Now this is the good stuff. Half way done,15 more gallons of breasts to slice and dry.

CS, I got my new deeks in and they are great. I've been out with them and shooting with a camera. Season ended way too early, we have several new groups of birds in. You'll have to come down this next winter.
