Crazy things your dogs eat.....

So I've got a question. My dog Rex seems to like to eat dried cow crap, whistle pigs, sticks, rocks and various other things he finds when we are out hunting. So, do you guys let your dogs eat any of this crap (mostly the whistle pigs)? When I catch Rex eating cow crap or whistle pigs I usually give him a little zap without saying anything (He thinks the whistle pigs and dried pies are electric

) as I'd really rather he didn't eat it. I think he's about broke of these two, but I have to catch him in the act and that's not always possible.

Dogs are scavengers they will eat anything. It doesn't bother me what my dog eats, just imagine all the things he's eating while your not watching.

I usually just tell my dog he's an idiot and go about my business. I figure he probably won't eat anything that will kill him, at least I hope not.

As mentioned above various kind of droppings. The one I can figure out is rocks, big rocks. Then he pukes the rocks back up.

He eats those too. Found 11 visible rocks in one of his dumps. Crazy dog!

All of my dogs eat rotten nasty old dead cattle. Every one they find, they gorge on, most times I don't know till they puke in the dogbox.

One day a few years ago I was counting the day's reciepts on top of the desk and accidently knocked a 100 dollar bill on to the floor. Before I could pick it up, the lab pup I had at the time grabbed it and swallowed it before I could stop her. [beeep]-Now what do I do?
Dumped a half bottle of exlax down her throat and put her in her kennel to see what would happen.
An hour later there was crap from one end of the cage to the other but couldn't find that bill anywhere.

I figured it must have been counterfeit and she couldn't pass it.

I have seen dogs pick up rocks and play with them but never actually eat them, I would say your dog is a little on the odd side. Please don't get upset, I am just saying

As a kid I spent a lot of time at my aunt and uncles house, they always had Great Danes. One dog of theirs died when he found a broken glass jar of peanut butter in the driveway. He was the same dog that caught a cat in the air, one of my cousins tossed it out of the house and the dog thought he was being tossed a treat. They quickly had two cats! Another kitten crawled up into his feed dish as he was eating, another cat became 2! A front half and a back half! He also ate an entire Little League team's candy supply to sell as a fund raiser, must have been about 50 lbs worth!

Dog turd eating is gross, some breeds are more prone to it than others. I have a friend with beagles, he gets some product from the vet that he sprinkles on their food. Not sure if its salt and pepper to make it more palatable or makes it inedible, I would think dog crap would already be, but hey dogs are gross.

I always think of Larry the Cable Guy's bit on a dog water purifier. He tells the salesman, "my dog just ate a turd, do you have a dog turd purifier?"

My dog Jasper loves to dine on fresh cow, horse, deer and elk crap. I don't mind him eating it but when he starts to roll it [beeep] me off. Nothing like elk crap stuck in his hair and collars. I think I've broke him of the rolling but once in a great while I don't see him do it. Around the yard the only thing they eat is the bark out of the garden.

Reminds me of Zipper. A couple of big game seasons ago we were deer hunting. We got back to the cabin after dark and the coyotes were going off like crazy. Zipper was standing in the drive way giving them [beeep]. We went in to cook dinner and after dinner we couldnt find him. We went to bed and pretty soon he was scratching on the door. Let him in and went back to bed. The next morning he came to get petted and burped the most god awful smell I have smelled. Later in the morning my dad and I were accusing each other of the horrible smell in the cab. I stopped to let the dogs run and in the back of the pickup was a bunch of rotten meat he had thrown up. After that came the screaming shits.

I had a dog that would eat his own poop. I ask a vet one day about it and he gave me some powder to sprinkle on his food. I asked what does that do? It makes his poop taste nasty. I said remind me not to come to your house for dinner.. If you don't think poop don't taste nasty in the first place. Didnt work. Went to a high priced dog food. and he quit.

My inlaws own a horse boarding facility, so my two pups are around horses nearly every day, and I $hit you not,(pun intended), they will only eat the crap from the grain fed horses. The pasture only horses, they wont look twice at their crap, but they are all over the stabled horses poo that get daily grains.

Also one of my pups loves to eat acorns. Dont know what thats all about.

And finally, for the past two summers I have tried to be a nice guy and put out a kiddie pool full of water for my dogs to cool off in. But they have chewed the crap out of both pools, so I hate to be the mean guy, but my dogs are just going to have to be hot this summer.
