Critr calls gone for good?

So I know they are out there… but Major Boddiker retired a few years ago and sold the company to a guy there in Colorado I believe. Not sure what kind of market presence they have now.

You also dont see a lot of Sceery calls around like we used to. I was told Ed was retiring as well and looking to sell. I heard a number but dont know any real details.

It’s funny how you have your favorites. I own a ton of calls both very old and fairly new, rabbit distress and howlers both. But 99% of the time I take my Critr calls, either peewee or song dog. They are always the ones in my shirt pocket.

Me too actually…I remember when the Song Dog came out as a howler I just used it as a distress call cause I liked the bigger air channel on it. I do still carry a Standard with me pretty much all the time.

Yeah I took a cow horn and cut the tip off it and reamed it out and sanded it just enough so the song dog would fit in it and use it as a howler, then I can pull it out of the cow horn and use it as a long range distress call. For more closer calling it’s hard to beat the peewee.

Major Boddiker retired and sold the company? I have been outta the loop… I have a couple of his calls I’ve used in the past.

Man I’m really glad I bought all of his Predator calls way back when.
I have 5 or 6 pee wee’s,
2 Standards, a song dog and a song dog jr. and one Magnum. And a whole bunch of the different size Mylar to make new reeds.

Been looking to pick up a critr call standard to go with my peewee. Did they go out of business?
My understanding is that the company was recently purchased and that it is in the process of being revived. My understanding is also that the calls are still going to be made in the USA (unlike some of the competition). If I had to guess, I'd says that they will probably be available to the general public for purchase again within the next couple of months (if not sooner).

Just pulled out a bunch of old calls of mine. That I haven’t used in a long time. 3 Circe wooden calls probably made in the 60’s both cottontail and jackrabbit. A plastic Circe cottontail call from the early 70’s I think. A few old weems wild calls including a dual tone. And three old Thompson predator calls from the 60’s…Think I might try them some this year.

Bodicker sold it and the guy who bought it just let it die. He had young kids and I think family life got the better of him. I’ve struggled with that myself.

Carlton Calls does make both sizes, but the reeds may need to change. Sportsman’s has them.

Native by Carlton (maybe a son/daughter) has the predator calls.

Steve Criner has what might be as close to original as you can get…except for the color. He was having call bodies made by Bodicker before he retired. He still sells the calls, so he has found someone to duplicate the bodies.
