Hello guys, can yous give me any advise on what would be the best crow caller to buy.I dont want an electronic one as they are not legal over here.A friend has one made by Faulks? which he says works well for him but he tells me they are no longer available. If anyone could suggest one which sounds simular I would appreciate it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Any kind will do. Collect a few. Inexpensive plastic or custom wood. Of course the custom ones are nicer and have the "Cool" factor.
It's good to change calls for a different sound now and then.
Be very careful because calling in mobs of crows may cause intense laughter and abdominal pains. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
It's just too much fun.
On my way home just now I drove through a roost of maybe several thousand crows. I'm going crazy just thinkng about spring crow season. (2 weeks in spring and Aug-Dec.)
Do you have crow season over there, or is it open all the time ?
Welcome to PM from across the pond.

We have open season on crows as they are classed as vermin. They can be shot or poisioned as they destroy lots of crops and foodstuffs. I shoot a lot at what yous would call "feedlots".We have a Greycrow here sometimes called a hooded crow which is just a little bit smaller than a raven,he is a true scavanger and great bird to hunt.Ten times smarter than an ordinary black crow.

Not sure if you can get them over there but a Gibson Crow Call should fill the bill. In fact, they are considered better than Faulks by many crow hunters. I think All Predator Calls (one of our sponsors) has them.

Nope, AP has Faulk's, but not the Gibson's. But you can get the whole range of Gibson's calls over at Crow Busters, where he's a moderator.

This will sound strange but, I use a Primos fawn bleat call. Just blow on it hard, it kind of sounds like a jackrabbit/hawk combination. If you see a crow or hear one it WILL bring them in... just be ready to shoot. Action will be fast, after you shoot one, quickly call again because they can be called back several times. Be sure to have a rifle and shotgun both at hand, is a good idea to have more than 1 shooter. Good luck Q

Like Qharley said.....Other animal distress calls will bring them in to shotgun range many times also.

Think I will order the Gibson from Crowbusters. However they seem a lot more expensive than All Predator Calls.

What Weasel said! I have several Gibson's and they sound great and he does excellent work on very nice woods, you really can't go wrong with him.

rabbit distress does work. i always call in crows/hawks every set. I have a johnny stewert Hammin' crow call and I've shot countless crows with the 17hmr. My brother has a knight & hale crow call and it works fine too. I find they screw up pretty easy though when the spit gets to them.

invest in a bunch of decoys!
