I have 2 ques. about calling crows. I have seen on another website that three long caws (cccaaawww cccaaawww cccaaawww)is like a "hello I,m over here" call. 3 short caws (caw caw caw)is a warning, and if u hear this your busted.I have sat and listened to crows "talk" lately and when I do 5 short caws It seems to get em very agaited. Does anybody know what 5 short caws means?I will always start with 3 long caws before doing this. Also, Does anybody know a website to hear crow talk other than Crow Busters? Thanks P.S. When a guy does do 3 short caws it will run em off.

From my experience with calling crows I believe
that 5 short caws means "somethings over here".
That's when they are in the trees and the tone
sounds mad. If they are flying and the tone is
normal then it's telling other crows that they
are moving. I could be wrong but this is what I
believe it means. Hope this helped.

Heck I used to know their lingo well 12 years ago, but haven't used it since!

3 caw's (not too long or drawn out) seems to be a locator call and might get another crow to answer and maybe head your way. I had good luck with a 'question and answer' type of calling starting with one normal caw immediately followed by two short quick high-pitched 'yips' (caawww yip-yip - only way I can describe it) that sounds like a 'where are you?' question, followed by the 3 slow caw's. It usually got a curious crow or two headed my way. The fast caws I think mean slightly different things depending on the rate and tone. Best thing to do is go out in full camo and sit quietly and listen to the flocks in their normal behavior (without you spooking them). If they find a hawk or owl they will go nuts, those are good sounds to learn, since when crows get their dander up they lose all sense of being careful.

Colorado Pete has it right with the three long Caws. When I pull up to an area that looks good but don't see any crows, I get out te hand call and give three loud, caws. Not short ones. If some crows answer back, I will then move into position and let the cassette tape take over.

Three long Caws and then several choppy caws is called the mourning call thats why they flock to it it makes them think there is a dead crow around and one of there brothers saw it and is mourning it.
